Jones County is one of several counties in Mississippi that have two court houses. One is located in Ellisville, and this is it's twin in Laurel. The building is Classical Revival design.

The Laurel, Mississippi Depot was completely renovated in the late 1990's. The area around the station has also been beautifully landscaped. The station is located in downtown Laurel and is served by the Amtrak north and southbound Crescent.

This is another photo of the Amtrak Northbound Crescent arriving at the depot in Laurel, MS. This photo was taken with the Crescent a little farther away from the station than previous photos taken this summer. Today the Crescent is being led by Amtrak GE Genesis Locomotive #156

The Amtrak Crescent is arriving in Laurel, Mississippi on June 25, 2009. The train does not normally stop at the Laurel station unless it is picking up passengers. On this day there were six passengers to pick up.

right before the curtain opened for "always ... patsy cline", a tornado watch was announced. only the 2nd time i've been so close to a twister. when the (actually really good) show was over, the rains had stopped, and the clouds were quickly moving away from the full moon.
